Image Metadata Viewer

View detailed metadata of any image file including dimensions, file size, and type. Browser-only processing.

Every image file records details about how it was created, from camera settings to edit history. Viewing this metadata helps you understand a file's origin and spot hidden information before sharing. This tool reads the full EXIF, dimensions, and file properties in one place. The inspection happens locally, so nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about image metadata viewer.

What metadata can I see?

File name, size in KB and bytes, MIME type, last modified date, image width, height, and aspect ratio. The insights panel also interprets these values for you.

Does it read GPS or camera EXIF data?

No. This tool reads basic file properties and image dimensions only. For camera details like GPS or device info, use the EXIF Privacy Cleaner, which can also remove them.

Which image formats are supported?

Any format your browser can decode, including JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and AVIF. The file just has to load as an image in the page.

Why did I get a failed to load image error?

The file could not be decoded as an image, usually because it is corrupted, truncated, or not an image at all. Re-export or re-save the file and try again.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read locally with the browser FileReader API. Only the metadata shown on the page exists, and nothing is transmitted.

How is the aspect ratio calculated?

The natural pixel width is divided by the natural pixel height and rounded to two decimal places, so a 1920x1080 image shows as 1.78:1.
