What number format can I use?
The format string supports two tokens: {n} renders the current page number and {total} renders the total page count, so you can produce outputs like "Page {n} of {total}" or plain "{n}". The start value changes what the first page is numbered from.
Can the numbers appear at the top of the page?
Yes. A position selector lets you place the page label at bottom center or top center. The text is drawn in gray at a small size so it reads clearly without distracting from the document.
Does adding numbers alter my content?
No. Page numbers are drawn as an overlay on top of each existing page, so the original text, images, and layout are untouched. The tool writes a new PDF that contains your document plus the added labels.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The numbering is applied locally with pdf-lib, and both the input and output remain in your browser. There is no server upload, account, or watermark.
What if my PDF is very long?
Page numbers are applied uniformly to every page regardless of length, and even large PDFs are processed in memory. Labels always use the freshly computed total, so they stay accurate for any number of pages.
