FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about screenshot cleaner.

What does this tool do?

You drag rectangular selections over sensitive areas such as names, emails, or account numbers, then apply cleaning to paint those regions solid white.

Is the cleaning reversible?

No. Selected regions are permanently filled with white pixels in the output image. The original file on disk is not modified, only the exported copy.

What output format is produced?

The cleaned image is exported as a PNG file named cleaned-screenshot.png, downloaded with one click after applying the cleaning.

Can I undo a selection before cleaning?

Yes. The Undo Last button removes the most recently drawn rectangle, letting you refine your selections before applying the cleaning.

Is there an image size limit?

Images are downscaled to a maximum dimension of 4096 pixels before the white rectangles are painted, which keeps large screenshots fast.

Do my screenshots leave my device?

No. All drawing and cleaning happens locally on a canvas element. The original file and the cleaned result never leave your browser, so sensitive screenshots stay private.
